A Good Relationship

Relationship is built on give and take.

A good relationship is like depositing and withdrawing. A good friend  will be able to make a withdraw from another  friend; mainly because a  deposit of friendship has been made.

The sad thing however, is when your account is overdrawn because  enough has not been deposited. This happens when a person demands more  from you than they are willing to give.

Mind you this does not mean money, but something more valuable such as  trust, integrity and honesty.  These are the key strong points that  should be deposited in a relationship.

In any relationship, friendship, family, romantic and yes even  pastoral.

Can you imagine a member going to a church for years, yet feeling  empty in the relationship with their Pastor.

Pastors need to deposit these keys as well. It would help his/her  teaching to be received more readily.

Likewise, members should not expect a withdraw when there has not been  a deposit.  How can I deposit into my Pastor? You ask. Well for  starters support the vision of the ministry through time, talent and  treasure.

You will find a great reward not because of your Pastor, but because  of what the vision of ministry stands for.

Also, continue to pray for your Pastor and do not hold a rebellious  spirit. This does not mean to say “Yes” to do all things, but say “yes” to  the positive result for the ministry.

Now Pastors or better yet, Shepherds feed the flock. Do not water down  the truth but serve it tenderly and with the Love of God.  Be an  example of a man or woman of God everywhere nor just at church.  Be  accountable let your people know that you also must give an account of  your actions to another leader. Be honest, if you don’t know, tell the  truth. Be open to listen to your flock and have a caring yet  instructive heart.

Relationships take time to build, let that be your main concern.

Jesus said You are my friends if you keep my commandments.  I call you no longer slaves or strangers, but I call you friend.

Yes Jesus made himself a friend to others. However to do so you must  invest in the Relationship Maker – as Jesus did when he said “I do nothing unless my Father tells me to do it”

And remember the first thing Jesus taught us on how to prayer is to address God as “Our Father”. From the beginning he defines to us that this connection with God is about relationship not a religion.

Jesus is our example of one that builds solid relationships.  Still today He is not here in the flesh, but everyday he is gaining  more friends.

Are You an Entreprenuer on the Go?

Here are 7 Fast-Food Lunches that Keep You Lean
By Lucy Danziger, SELF Editor-in-Chief -a Yahoo! Health Expert for Women’s Health. Posted on Thu, May 06, 2010, 2:55 pm PDT Happier, Healthier You – SELF.com

Many of us seem to operate on one speed—overdrive! And that habit has carried over to our food habits, too: Fifty-nine percent of women eat on the go, according to a study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. Those who eat while driving, working or otherwise occupied, tend to fill up more on fast food. While you can hit the insta-burger joint occasionally without gaining, those who indulge in fast food more than twice a week tend to be 10 pounds heavier than those who eat it sparingly, according to a study in The Lancet, which puts them at greater risk for diabetes.

The good news: As long as you place a smart order, it’s possible to eat fast food without tacking on pounds. One stay-slim secret worth remembering? Beware the combo meal: The average side accounted for a third of these meals’ 1,200 calories, a study in the journal Obesity indicates, so avoid the fries-with-that trap. As for the healthiest options on the menu board, you can’t go wrong with the all-stars below. Speedy, nutritious meal? Coming right up!

Delegation is Necessary

Over the years I have worked with many Pastors, Directors and CEOs. Unfortunately a lot of them lack the ability to delegate responsibility. They believe “I am the only one that can do this” or “well if I want it done right I have to do it myself”. These leaders often suffer of high blood pressure through high stress. I found this information to be crucial for leaders, you can fit this into your organization whether it’s a church or business.

Delegation is the way great managers grow organizational capability. There is no need to find or create work for our employees. We teach them to do our job by giving them our work.

The Model. First, state your need for help. “Rob, I need your help on something”. Then, tell them why you’re asking THEM: “You’re the closest to this customer”, “You’re our best negotiator”, “You’re most in need of growth in this area, and I trust you”. Ask for specific acceptance: “Would you please take over the monthly project meeting?”. Now describe the task or project in details: “Here’s what’s involved…”.

Delegation: Go over deadline and quality standards: “You’ll report out on the 15th of each month and here’s the template”. Nail down reporting standards: “I want weekly updates and concerns”. Ask for skills/resource needs: “What do you need from me?”

Effective Ministry Marketing

In today’s society we use all types of social media to promote our products and services. We use facebook, Twitter and Linkedin just to name a few.

This form of advertising has been successful to many industries. It has been well accepted by ministries and churches alike. Because of it’s abilty to reach audiences worldwide and the cost to be virtually free, many independent ministries use these sources.

I would caution however to those that has no background in marketing. This is a powerful tool and could be used against if you don’t know what you are doing.

The one thing some ministries fail to realize although these are social networks your approach and content has to be business social. In other words to have a name and header such as “Prophetess of God” your content should reflect that position. When you are promoting ministry – you are branding your product (which is you) and your service (which is your ministry). By doing this you can put in the minds of readers that, yes the header and content agree.

However when you start promoting ministry and then start putting up pictures of your favorite shoes or you wearing a bikini it distorts the content and confuses the reader. Your brand as Prophetess has been destroyed.
Now I am not saying that you have sinned or that you are not who you say you are. Remember be consistent in your marketing.

My suggestion if you feel the need to get personal and tell jokes and trivial things – then create a personal profile and let it all hang out.

Unless your ministry is about shoe shopping or bikini wear – do not mix the business with personal.
Think about it like this: If you were reading the biography of the President of Pepsico you would read a little about him personally, but not a lot of showing pictures of him shopping for his new golf club and laughing and talking with friends. The main thing you are interested is his position in Pepsi, how he got there and what is he doing now.

This is effective marketing when 90% of your content is focused on your brand.

If however you are one of the few that choose social media for personal use only, then by all means – have a ball!
Yet remember if you are in ministry your content should not contain anything that could defile your name.
